D.K. Because our skin is our largest organ, we need to be careful of the usage of skin care products containing unhealthy chemicals. Research has shown these chemicals have been found in breast tissue of cancer patients. Therefore, I am on a quest to share inexpensive and natural alternatives. Many more recipes will be added in the future.
Almond, Oatmeal & Avocado Body Scrub
Oatmeal (rich in vitamin E, anti-inflammatory, anti –itch, skin smoothing properties )
Almonds (natural emollient and when ground an effective exfoliant.
Avocado ( contains vitamins A, D and E)
½ cup almonds
1 cup dry oatmeal
1 ripe avocado, peeled, pitted and mashed
Place almonds in a blender or coffee grinder and grind until coarse and not too fine.
Mix almonds and oatmeal and place in glove or muslin mitt. Scoop up avocado and rub on body with mitt. Rinse off with warm water, pat dry and moisturize.
SAVE THE AVOCADO PIT AS A NATURAL MASSAGE TOOL AND RUB THE PIT INTO SORE MUSCLES AFTER THE SCRUB.
THYME AND EUCALYPTUS BACK RELIEF SOAK
Thyme is said to have been used for its medicinal properties as early as 3,500 B.C. Thyme has been used to relieve asthma, coughs and colds; to reduce swelling provoked by gout; and thought to be helpful in treating nervous disorders
The following recipe has been recommended for anyone who suffers from joint pains or backache. The eucalyptus oil enhances the action of the thyme.
15 drops thyme essential oil
4 drops eucalyptus essential oil
Mix oils in hot bath water and soak for 15 minutes. After the bath, massage joints and back with the Thyme and Cedarwood Joint and Backache Rub.

RECIPE – Thyme and Cedarwood Joint and Backache Rub
2 oz. jojoba oil
12 drops of thyme essential oil
12 drops of cedarwood essential oil
Mix ingredients thoroughly and massage into affected areas with a slow circular motion.
